Intro

I wanted to publish my proposed 28th amendment that I wrote for a high school business law class. Dealing with campaign finance and representative income, it aims to diminish political corruption.

Proposed Bill

Amendment 28 — Elimination of Non-Salary Representative Income and Alterations to Campaign Finance. Ratified (__)/(__)/(____)

No federal representative, senator, vice president, president, other elected governmental official, or the spouses of said government official, may receive private campaign donation, personal gift, or any other form of payment exceeding $600 from any entity aside from the United States Federal Government, during their time in office or after, until their death.

The immediate families (mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, sons, daughters) of said elected officials, including the officials themselves, will henceforth be required to publicly disclose all income figures during the elected officials time in office and then on, until the death of the elected official.

The salaries and penchants of representatives will be increased to $500,000 annually, senators $1,000,000 annually, vice presidents $1,500,000 annually, and presidents $2,000,000 annually, and these salaries will be paid to elected officials from the time of their election until death. For each term of reelection, representatives will receive a 4% increase in penchant for each term reelected, senators 8%, vice presidents and presidents 6%.

All federally elected officials will also be offered public housing, should they desire to utilize it.
